Challenge-based learning for citizen engagement
2811 is an international platform for social and ecological change with local teams in Germany, Spain, Portugal, the USA, Colombia, Brazil, and Chile. Since it was founded in 2016, 2811 has contributed to building a community of socially and environmentally educated and conscious students, teachers, institutions, and leaders, and to disseminating knowledge and agency in the areas of climate action, regenerative development, and social innovation.
In this online workshop, we will reflect on why and how climate action education can enable us to empower and equip current and future generations to meet their needs using a balanced and integrated approach to the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. More specifically, we will put emphasis on the projects implemented by 2811 in Europe, their purpose, methodology, impacts, and outcomes, as well as the role of schools and civil society in citizen engagement.
