In our event, we focus on collective forms of collaboration between formal and informal social agents in the promotion of sustainable education. In particular, we discuss if and how agents such as governmental institutions, universities, schools and social movements (e.g. FridaysForFuture) can collaborate in a systemic and ethical way. We will start from the following question: How can we promote critical and inclusive thinking, collective agency, collaborative networks and future-focused research agendas for a new ethical responsibility oriented to environmental and social sustainability? Our workshop will be addressed to educational stakeholders (students, student teachers, parents, teachers, school leaders, researchers) and will offer spaces for critical discourses and collaborative innovations.

• Johannes Reitinger, Agnes Pürstinger: ‘Learning Opportunities for a Sustainable Development.’ Climate change and contemporary endeavors around Education for Sustainable Development motivate us to rethink conventional approaches of institutionalized learning environments at schools and teacher education. We would like to introduce and discuss the necessity for stronger discourse-oriented learning spaces as well as the concept of emancipatory learning opportunities (ELOs) for a sustainable development.

After the interventions of the speakers, there will be 1 hour for Q&A, discussion, networking, and proposals for collaborations.
