Jinan considers himself a victim of modern education, cognitively rewired to understand the word instead of the world. He has been living with illiterate people to understand the natural cognitive system, based on the natural propensity of any living being to make sense of the world and to trace the cause for modern human alienation. It is unusual in the sense that he stopped reading for several years and this led to the transformation of his cognitive system which re-activated the senses as the primary tool of cognition, reclaimed the real world as the content, and experience itself as the process of cognition and self-organization as knowledge creation. He has studied how children ‘learn’ and how the schooling process damages the cognitive system. His focus is to find ways of creating space for children to awaken the natural cognitive system and to help the cognitively damaged to recover the natural learning process.
